We often come across ancient goddesses or sculptures doing some hand poses. These hand poses are nothing but sacred hasta mudras and gestures. The poses are performed in yoga. Hand yoga poses benefit you to improve your overall health and internal energy.
Some hand poses also activate your chakras. Each mudra has a purpose. They affect your emotional, mental and physical well-being. Most of the hand poses are done along with some meditation techniques. Let us look at some hand poses or mudras and try to do it with proper form.
Apan Vayu Hand Pose

Hold the index finger and touch it to the mount below the thumb. Your ring finger and middle finger should touch each other. Keep your pinky finger in a straight position. This pose is good for the heart and menstrual health. If you are facing menstrual cramps then do this mudra for pain relief.
Gyan Mudra

Touch your index and thumb softly. The rest of the fingers should be in an upright position. This is the most common mudra performed during meditation. This pose is good for your brainpower. It helps to relieve stress and improves your concentration power. It calms your mind and is beneficial for meditation.

Varuna Mudra Pose

The thumb and pinky finger should be touching each other and should be slightly bent down. Try to keep the rest of the three fingers straight. This hand pose improves blood flow and is good for purifying your blood.
Linga Mudra

Stand in a straight position with palms joining each other in front of your chest. Except your thumb fingers should be locked. Hold this pose for 3-4 minutes. Unlock your palms and then repeat this position. To improve your digestive system, do this hand pose daily once or twice. It is also a good mudra for losing weight.
Shunya Mudra

Keep your thumb on your bent middle finger and rest your fingers comfortably straight. It just relieves you from vertigo problems and calms your mind and gives your a stress-free mind.

Mushtika Bandhana Hand Pose
Mushtika means palms and bandhana means fold so as the name suggests we have to do this pose by clenching our palm. Your thumb should be inside clenched fingers. When you inhale open your fingers as you exhale clench your fingers again. Repeat this movement around eight times with both your hands. This is the best hand pose for osteoarthritis and good exercise to strengthen your wrist and grip.
Venus Lock

This hand pose focuses more on the mount of venus. As venus represents, sexuality and love this mudra enhances these qualities. It is best for the improvisation of a granular system of your body. Hold your own palms together as you hold the hands of your love partner. Interlock all your fingers with each other and your thumbs should be on the fleshy area of their respective hands. Hold it for few seconds and release it.
Surabhi Mudra

It is one of the most complicated hand poses. Your left index finger should touch your right middle finger. Your left middle finger should touch the right-hand side of your index finger. Join right pinky finger with your left ring finger.
Thumbs should be joined too with each other. This is the best pose because it balances all the elements like fire, air, water, earth in your body. Your vatta, pitta, kapha dosha also get balanced.
Pushpa Mudra Hand Poses

It is a lotus blooming fower pose. The initial position should be of joining your hands like when you pray. By just touching your palm heels, slowly curl open your index, middle, and ring finger. Your pinky fingers should remain touching with each other. This hand pose helps you to recover from negative feelings and boosts your self-confidence by developing positivity in your mind.
