If you’re a fan of UFC and MMA, then you’ve probably heard of Mohammed Usman. He’s not only the younger brother of Kamaru Usman, but he’s also a great pound-for-pound fighter.
Despite his young age, Mohammed has already been through a lot. He’s made a name for himself in the UFC as a welterweight and light heavyweight. But he’s looking ahead to bigger things. In fact, he wants to be a superstar in the sport.
He’s currently 7-2 in MMA, with two defeats and two wins. And that’s not counting his victory in the “Ultimate Fighter” season 30 competition.
The “Ultimate Fighter” is a reality show that pits combat athletes against each other for the chance to earn a contract with the UFC. It’s guided by some of the most famous names in the industry, including Michael Bisping, Anderson Silva, and Conor McGregor.
This season, the focus is on the lighter weights. But Kamaru Usman wants to make a big splash in the light heavyweight division.
Ultimate Fighter 30
Mohammed Usman, younger brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, has earned a UFC contract. He’ll compete in The Ultimate Fighter 30 season.
During his senior year at Arizona, he recorded 19 tackles. He also totaled one sack. After being released from the school, he moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue his MMA career. In 2010, he finished with three tackles.
Mohammed Usman was selected to represent Team Pena in the Ultimate Fighter 30 competition. His fight will take place against Zac Pauga. There’s no confirmed date for the bout yet. However, there’s a good chance he’ll fight on the TUF live finale.
In his first UFC fight, Mohammed Usman scored a one-punch knockout of Zac Pauga. Pauga was 5-1 in MMA and 0-1 in the UFC.
Usman threw a jab to the body and followed up with a left-handed haymaker. Perez sunk to the mat and began to take punches from Usman, but it wasn’t until the second round that he got his first warning.
UFC career
Mohammed Usman is a former Arizona Wildcats football player and UFC contender. He has a brother named Kamaru, who is a former UFC welterweight champion. And he has a son named Nash, who was born in 2016.
In his younger days, Usman took up wrestling. At age 15, he was the state wrestling champ of Texas. Then, he began to take up the sport of MMA. He has since been around the block a few times.
Although he went undrafted in the NFL, he is still active on the MMA scene. He is now training in Colorado for a UFC fight in the near future.
For someone who has only been in the UFC for a short period of time, Mohammed has already picked up a win. He beat Brandon Sayles in the 2021 PFL season. His first UFC title fight was against Zac Pauga.
Of course, the big one was winning the aforementioned UFC title. As the younger brother of former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, Mohammed has the same motivation as his older sibling.
Family life
Mohammed Usman is the youngest brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. They grew up in a small town in Nigeria called Auchi. They both competed in wrestling in high school. After seeing their older brother’s success, they decided to pursue a professional MMA career.
In addition to his MMA career, Mohammed has a history with football. He played in college for the Arizona Wildcats. His goal was to eventually make it into the NFL. However, he was undrafted. During his senior season, he made 11 appearances for the team. There, he recorded one sack and totaled 19 tackles.
Mohammed has also competed in Titan Fighting Championships. During a two-year stint with the organization, he earned four consecutive wins. It’s a good bet that the UFC will give him a chance to compete on their upcoming series, The Ultimate Fighter 30.
At 6’2 and 254lbs, Mohammed is a hugely impressive athlete. He delivers powerful strikes and has a solid ground game. This is one of the many reasons why fans are predicting big things for him in the UFC.
