For anyone who wants to take a break from the hustles of life and take a lifetime vacation, Thailand has a lot for you. From the fantastic beaches to amazing wildlife, rich cultures and cities full of energy. The country cement a position in the top list of favorite tourist destinations in Asia. Visitors flock the cities, national parks, islands and beaches all around the year. Seasons cannot limit you from visiting the country as there will always be something for you. Among the fascinating views include the golden triangles and the floating markets of Bangkok.

Furthermore, there is numerous wildlife experience such as elephants, bears, deer and many other. Besides the life in the parks, a lot of incredible scenery exist in the cities. Numerous cultures flood the markets and the streets while you can enjoy historical symbols such as Emerald Buddha. Other exciting places include the White Temple and several other Buddhist temples in the country. You cannot also resist the comfort in the restaurants and the variety of local meals provided. Thailand is, therefore, the perfect place to take a tour whether individually, with family or in a group of friends. Since the list is endless, below we focus on the five major destinations in the country:

Khao Yai National Park

Without any doubts, Khao Yai tops all the other national parks in Thailand. From the variety of wildlife to the beautiful sceneries, you can never get enough of this place. Although it comes third in terms of size, it attracts more tourists than any other national park. The proximity to Bangkok city, 2.5kms, gives it an added advantage. It receives most of the visitors who arrive and reside in the city. It is part of Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex; a UNESCO affirmed World Heritage Site. The park also encompasses a number of protected areas.

Apart from thousands of plant species available in the park, you will also see beautiful waterfalls and too many animals. Some of the mammals you will likely see include the elephants, porcupines and a variety of deer. You will also find plenty of money families in the park and different types of birds. Though not in large numbers, reptiles are also available in Khao Yai national park. The park offers convenience in terms of accessibility since its open from 6.am to 6.pm. Furthermore, the park administration allows the use of various means of transport inside the park. In close proximity are several hotels and guest houses where you can spend your nights.

When you visit Thailand, you can never exhaust the number of temples in the country. Buddhist being the dominant religion, most of the daily activities of the people seek foundation from temples. It is the place where they seek divine guidance on health issues and good fortune. The structural appearances of the Buddhist temples attract numerous tourists taking a visit to Thailand. They offer magnificent and breathtaking sceneries. Among the most popular Buddhist temples include the Wat Rong Khun, commonly known as ‘The White Temple.’ Found in northern Thailand, it enjoys the popularity of being among the best sites in Chiang Rai. As the name suggests, white color dominates the appearance of the temple. According to the popular view, the white color signifies the Buddha’s purity. Other than enjoying the beauty of the view, tourists also capture the moments with photographs and films.

Another famous Buddhist temples which enjoy frequent visits in Thailand is Wat Tham Phra Plong. Also in northern Thailand, the temple has some of the best views since forests surround it and its found in mountain caves. You cannot mention Buddhist temples and forget the ‘Wat Phra Kaew’ or commonly known as the ‘Temple of the Emerald Budha.’ Most refer it as the holiest of all temples and a symbol of Thai society. Tourist flocks here since it’s at the heart of Bangkok city and near Grand Palace. The temple houses the statue of the Emerald Buddha, the most ‘holy’ statue among the Buddhist. Surprising, only the Thai kings have the authority to touch the statue.

For those obsessed with landscape viewing and adventures of the mountains, the best city to visit is Chiang Mai. It sits on northern Thailand, and its environs include several mountains. You can never get enough of the fascinating surrounding. Furthermore, the city has a rich culture with historic structures and uncorrupted traditions of the hill tribes.  Moreover, Chiang Mai has a variety of Buddhist temples and famous night bazaar for enjoyment after day visits. Also to find in the city include botanical gardens with a variety of plants with unique features.

Doi Suthep, a western district of Chiang Mai city, owns one of the most famous temple, Wat Phra. It takes its name from the neighboring Doi Suthep Mountains. It’s the hub of the city’s tourism activities due to the availability of welcoming visiting sites. Among these include the Doi Suthep-Pui national park, mountains, museum and the mentioned temples among others. Chiang Mai offers easier accessibility of favorite destinations. You can personally drive around the city, hire a tour van or even use scooters or motorbikes. The area is suitable for outdoor activities such as hiking, photography, and camping.

When you get enough of walking the streets of Bangkok and watching the fantastic floating markets and golden triangles, Chiang Rai can be your next perfect destination. Just like many other favorite visiting sites, it is located in northern Thailand. The nature of the surrounding area offers so much to enjoy. From the culture of the local community to enchanting attractions and outdoor activities. The Singha Park, for instance, provides a thrilling ride on the zip line that transverse a tea plantation. Other breathtaking experiences in Chiang Rai include visiting and enjoying the architectural beauty of the Blue Temple.

A strategically located Guan Yin statue in Chiang Rai also justifies a visit to Thailand. It is elevated on high ground and allows the viewing of the city from its eyes. You can miss to see it even from the far corners of the city. Its twenty-five storeys make it easier to enjoy a view of the entire city. Besides the enchanting views, you can treat your appetite with delicious local street food. You easily connect with the Thai culture by having local street dishes. Other than its mouthwatering look and amazing taste, the food befriends your wallet in terms of cost. Furthermore, they never overprice as in the cozy restaurants and hotels. To start the list, several beaches such as Chaweng and Lamai engulf the island. In Koh Samui, you also find a variety of shops for your petty items and unique local artifacts. Moreover, there are restaurants and food joints to have a taste of local meals and drinks. You can also not have a problem with places to spend the nights as guest rooms are in plenty.

The preference of Koh Samui as a destination of many tourists visiting islands in Thailand also comes from its easier accessibility. It is close to the mainland hence convenient for exploration. Moreover, movement from one place to another on the island becomes exciting due to the availability of tour vehicles. Several entertainment joints make nightlife more enjoyable on the island with bars and restaurants open throughout the night. Other outdoors activities for tourist in Koh Samui include boat tours, diving, water sports, and many others.
