One of the excuses that most people cite for not working out is lack of time. That could be true considering it takes time to drive to the gym and back home. Depending on the distance to the gym, it can take you almost an hour. Let’s talk to turn your house into a gym as busy schedule can inconvenient people working on a very busy schedule. But that is not an excuse that would make anyone skip workouts. With workout DVDs or online class sessions, you can now work out at home conveniently and still get the same result. Actually, most people are turning to virtual gyms due to their numerous benefits. But how do you turn your house into a gym at no cost?

I know that you are now picturing your house and wondering how you can turn into a gym, right? You will be surprised to find out how easy it is. You will also be surprised to find out that your house has everything that a professional gym has. If you are exercising to keep fit, then your house has everything you need. In this article, I’m providing you with 5 simple but highly effective tips on how to turn your house into a gym. Check out these tips:

1. Stairs for Cardio Exercises

Cardio exercises are some of the critical exercises for physical fitness. So while considering a home gym, they must be factored in. One of the easiest and effective ways to do cardio at home is by utilizing the stairs. Running or walking up and down the stairs provides perfect cardio exercises as that of a professional gym. In fact, stairs burn almost three times calories than when training on a flat surface. However, you may need to modify the design of the stairs to accommodate workouts. The common steep steps in the house are not recommended for exercises since they are not safe.

2. Stairs/Chair Step-Up

Apart from using stairs to burn massive volumes of calories, you can also use them as step-ups for glute and upper leg strengthening. This is quite and works extremely well to achieve that. Just like in the gym, you only have to make on step one at a time using the correct foot. For safety and effective workout, the first step at the bottom of the stair is the best. That is because you need a flat surface or the floor to avoid accidents. If not the stair, you can use a chair in the kitchen.

3. Get Pumped with Waters gallons

Have you ever thought of water gallons as dumbbells? I know this will surprise many, but water gallons are really good weights. If you are planning to turn your house into a gym, then water gallons would be the perfect dumbbells for you. The good news is that it will costs you nothing to get these ‘dumbbells’ in the house. However, it is important to get weights right. Check the number of pounds for each gallon to get the most out of it. These gallons can be used for everything from shoulders to biceps curls. You can also use them for shoulder exercise.

4. Chair Dips for Triceps

You don’t need to buy go to the gym to strengthen your triceps or the backs of your arms. A chair is enough to get this done. What you need is to grab a chair, and you are good to go. You just need to shimmy to the front of the chair with your hands to the edge, lower your hips and back up. Make 10 to 15 repeats, and that will be enough to strengthen your triceps.

5. Kitchen Counter/Chair Pushups

This is pretty easy and cool. You can do a set of pushups in the kitchen by using the available furniture such as counters and chairs. What you need is to stand about three feet from the chair or the counter, lean in with straight legs and place hands on the counter or chair top. With your abs tight, you can slowly push back. Repeat it for about 12 to 15 times, and you are good to go.

With these tips, it clearly shows that you have everything you need to keep fit your house. Make use of the stairs for the cardio exercises and kitchen counters and chairs for pushups. You don’t have to worry about weight because water gallons provides perfect homemade dumbbells. All this at zero cost. You will also be able to utilize your time appropriately.
