Infinity Wars fans might remember Zoe Saldana marveling, “It’s like his muscles are made of Chitauri metal fibers,” while stroking Chris Hemsworth’s arm. We all know that Hemsworth (Marvel’s Thor) works out hard. Thor wouldn’t delight us quite so much if the actor weren’t a walking testament to hypertrophy. But, what about Chris Hemsworth’s wife? Does she share his enthusiasm for exercise?

Who is Elsa Pataky?
Elsa Pataky is not just Chris Hemsworth’s wife. She is a force in her own right. The 44-year-old Spanish model speaks five languages, has written a book, has starred or co-starred in many foreign and domestic television series and big-screen films, is raising three children with her husband, and is just all the way around fantastic, hardworking, elegant, and inspiring. Most importantly, yes, she definitely shares Hemsworth’s love for fitness. As a matter of fact, some say her workouts may surpass his in popularity. The two have even created their own fitness app called Centr Fit.
Elsa’s Not Afraid to Build Muscle
“I always tell women not to get scared to being muscly because it keeps everything up. When you get older, and everything starts sagging [laughs]. So, the only way to keep it up is the muscle. So, don’t be scared of that – in the beginning, it will look like you’re gaining weight but that will change, step by step. Just hang in there.” Pataky tells Body and Soul.

Elsa’s Go-To Work Outs
Like her heartthrob husband, Elsa has loved working out, building muscle, and feeling fantastic since she was very young. Though she is open to all forms of exercise, she does have a few go-to workouts, and we will share them with you here. While she does love to swim and lift weights, she is most well-known for some great kickboxing moves thanks to an Instagram video posted a few years ago. Pataky does seem to have a large repertoire of exercise favorites to choose from, including yoga, pilates, and bodyweight exercises. These can all be found on her Instagram page.

Elsa on Moderate Living with Her Husband
“I hate extremes in everything, so I always love to kind of be in the middle. I learned a lot about macrobiotics, but I need other things, also. You have to find what your body craves and what is good for it… For a while everyone was like ‘no carbs’ which I think is a big mistake.” she tells Women’s Health.

I don’t believe anything about diets, like quick diets that you do before summer. Those miracles don’t exist,” she tells Marie Claire, adding. “Mediterranean food every day, not just [for] periods of time.”
Pataky says that her husband was a fan of intermittent fasting long before she was. She admits that her fears that fasting would cause unwanted weight loss were unfounded. She now is one of many proponents of fasting as a moderate and healthy way of life.
Living Outside of the Comfort Zone
While Elsa never shies from a workout, she isn’t necessarily married to any of them. She loves to move her body and be active, and that is all that really seems to matter.
Her favorite hobbies are surfing and horseback riding. Neither activity is grueling and sweaty. And that’s kind of the point. Elsa isn’t just trying to alter body composition or to burn fat, her goal tends to be to simply find joy and pleasure in movement and to get out of her comfort zone.
“It’s hard to define my exact philosophy but in general, I think it’s important – especially with exercise – to get out of your comfort zone. When you’re not moving or doing anything it’s hard, but when you break that and see how good you feel after exercise, that changes something inside you. I think our thoughts and beliefs are what move us forward, but they’re also what hold us back.” she tells Marie Claire.
Elsa on Being Chris Hemsworth’s Wife
“[Chris and I] love to do sports, eat healthily and move our bodies,” she tells Glamour. “We’ve got the kids into surfing. Any hobbies to get them outside, and not on social media and computers. My daughter has been horse-riding with me since she was two-and-a-half.”
It would appear that Chris and Elsa are as perfect of a match as can be, and we look forward to more great things from the Hemsworth crew.
