If you’re like many men out there, you are trying to get rid of exceess fat. Weight loss is never easy, and it always seems like it’s expensive, doesn’t it? All those gym memberships, sneakers, and protein shakes add up.

Most people who want to lose weight end up losing their interest in doing so because they can’t find the motivation to keep it up. However, money can be a great motivator—and yes, you can be paid to lose weight. Here are three ways to shed pounds and fatten your wallet at the same time.

Join a gym’s weight loss challenge.

This is the most obvious way to make some money while you’re losing weight. If you take a look around, chances are that at least one gym in your area has a weight loss contest they’re pushing. If you are very dedicated, signing up as a contestant could net you a lot of money—not to mention a free gym membership!

Use HealthyWage

Competing against others isn’t always the best way to make money, especially if you don’t have much weight to lose. So, why not compete against yourself? HealthyWage is a service that allows you to pay to enter a competition against yourself.

There’s a couple of catches here, though. You will have to spend money in order to win money back. If you don’t lose the weight you want to lose in the allotted time period, you also will lose all the money you put in. If you’re willing to risk it, give it a go.

Start your own weight loss blog or vlog to show how you’re doing it.

This option’s a bit more long term than most, but if you stick with it, it can pay off in the form of a new career. There are tons of different approaches you can take here, but this will require you to market your vlog, have some video editing skill, and also be a good writer. However, if you’re lucky, it could lead to sponsorships and a serious cash flow.

Become a personal trainer

If you’re willing to go get certified and learn the ropes, becoming a personal trainer might be a great way to make a part-time job out of weight loss.

This approach has three major advantages. First, it allows you to meet health-oriented people who want to lose weight like you. Second, becoming a trainer means that you’ll learn how to lose weight from the pros and put it in action. Third, you’ll be paid to get fit and help others get fit.

Become a sponsor for a weight loss program

Finally, if you are lucky and have the connections, being a sponsor for a weight loss program might be a thing to consider. You don’t have to be a celebrity to do it, either. Most people want to see other “regular Joes” losing weight when they see new programs pop up.
