PRIME by social media superstars Logan Paul and KSI has taken the world by storm. Since its founding in January 2022, Logan has revealed that the company has made a lot of money. During an interview with the radio program The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia, Paul revealed that the company made $250 million in retail sales during its first year and an additional $45 million in January 2023.

The popularity of the drink surely has been fueled by the global presence of both owners. The question is, is it a healthy sports drink? Both Paul and KSI say it is a healthy drink and is a better alternative compared to other sports or energy drinks available to the market.

Paul and KSI started off as rivals and even shared the boxing ring twice. The first bout ended with a majority draw and in the second fight, KSI won via split decision. The second fight went down on November 9, 2019. Over two years later, Paul and KSI teamed up to launch PRIME.

People all over the globe want to get their hands on at least one battle, which is proving to be difficult because of so much demand. If you’re wondering what made this drink so popular, well, a big part of that is aligned with Paul and KSI’s fame.

The big question, is it good for the human health?

Is it a healthy drink?

Paul has been very vocal in promoting his product, to the point that he mentions sports drink competitors unfazed. One that is mostly compared with PRIME is of course Gatorade. As claimed by Paul, PRIME is a better alternative to Gatorade because it has no sugar and only has 20 calories. These are the two main selling points Paul and KSI have been capitalizing on and it is working.

Each 500ml bottle of PRIME’s energy drink also offers 10% coconut water along with electrolytes as well as B vitamins.

According to an article by The Sun, PRIME does contain nutrients that could be healthy for the body. However, it might not be a good idea to consume PRIME, especially among little kids. In the article, registered dietician Duane Mellor said that the drink’s electrolytes are acesulfame potassium, which is “potassium based, so would not aid hydration, so (it’s) not likely to improve performance.

Also despite having zero sugar, PRIME drinks still have sweeteners. The article warned that when kids are given drinks with sweeteners, they tend to get used to sweet drinks and would prefer them over water.

Despite that, there are experts who believe PRIME is indeed a good no-sugar alternative. According to Registered dietician Dr. Paul McArdle, the hydration drink contains BCAAs, which are proteins that are considered muscle foods.

The Verdict

Is PRIME a healthy drink? It is definitely a better alternative compared to other sports, energy, or hydration drinks with a lot of sugar and calories. However, determining if it is a healthy drink would also depend on the person drinking it. Many experts also suggest that everything this product offers in terms of nutrients can be acquired through a healthy diet. There are also other beverages you can enjoy that would give you a boost for the day. Water is still the best beverage to hydrate and replenish.
