Some guys aren’t too keen on using accessories as it feels like extra work — choosing which ones to use, learning which ones go together and figuring out if they really look great on certain outfits. While it would be easier to just throw on a shirt, jeans, and sneakers, it’s really not too hard to put on some hat or maybe a watch to make your ensemble look nicer.

If you are not sure what items you should use to finish off your outfit, we have put together a simple guide on how you can use accessories for your daily looks. This will also be a helpful reference for when you want to go on a quick visit to the mall.

Accentuate your look with stylish and functional pieces like a hat or sunglasses

Hats

A hat is a simple piece that’s always a nice addition to your outfit. While it’s functional, it is also incredibly stylish especially when worn during the right occasion. Get your cap on as you go out in your favorite laid-back casual wear. Feeling fancy and formal? Grab a wide-brimmed hat with your blazer and button-down shirt. If you want to be on the safe side, get something that is in a neutral color such as navy, charcoal, or black. Red caps and beanies are also a great choice as they are easy to pair with most outfits.

Belts

Belts are usually worn as a necessity but they can easily be transformed into a style choice. There are no strict rules on belts except making sure that they match with your shoes on formal occasions. It is imperative that a guy have a good leather belt in his arsenal as it is really useful for formal and business events.

Necklace

Unless you’re about to drop some new beats and rap, ditch the huge chains and embrace simpler pieces. A plain gold or silver chain in medium width will be a good piece when wearing a shirt or a collared or v-neck top. If you want to feel edgy, you can also wear pendants, although be careful as some may look too much.

Watches are always a great statement piece for whatever outfit you're rocking

Watch

Watches are always essential. Get yourself a nice reliable watch; opt for a leather, gold, or silver one. You can also get a casual watch with plastic or rubber features, but a leather band will be your best bet for versatility as it looks great on both business and casual looks.

Bracelets

If you’re feeling fancy, you can easily pair your short-sleeved shirts with a bracelet. You can either rock a simple distressed metal bangle or a cord bracelet, but just make sure that it does not dangle. If you are into chain bracelets, make sure that you pair them with the right look — maybe a velvet sweatsuit with a matching necklace. The key to wearing bracelets is subtlety and never overdoing it. Just wear a piece with your watch and you are good to go.
