Did you know that it’s possible to overdo your workouts? If you’re constantly training and not giving yourself time for recovery, then you’ll find it very difficult to reach your fitness goals. That’s why it’s just as important to focus on your recovery by eating the right foods, getting enough rest, and taking post-workout supplements.

Working out too much can have a negative effect on your progress.

Post-workout supplements in particular are very helpful since they boost your energy levels for your next workout and can help build and repair muscle. Thus, they can help in the recovery process by making sure that you’re not fatigued and you’re constantly in tip-top shape.

Here are seven of the best recovery supplements to help kick-start the recovery process.

Post-workout supplements that are good for recovery

Taking supplements after your workout can help boost your energy levels and keep your body in tip-top shape.

If you’re still clueless on what types of post-workout supplements you need, then check out our list. This should help you get an idea of what types of supplements you need in order to get the results that you want out of your workout.

1. Creatine

Creatine is arguably the most popular supplement on this list. It’s cheap, readily available, and effective when it comes to boosting the power of your muscles.

It helps hydrate muscle cells and kick-starts the production of ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, which muscle cells use as energy.

Three grams of creatine monohydrate a day will be sufficient to provide you with a boost in your workouts.

2. Whey protein

Whenever you’re working out, your body uses protein as a means of repairing and rebuilding your muscles. That’s why a good source of protein is important to make sure your body has a good supply of protein.

And when it comes to protein, whey protein is one of the best. That’s because it’s more readily absorbed by your body compared to other protein sources.

Ideally, you should take a whey protein drink or supplement right after working out.

3. Glutamine

Glutamine is the most abundant type of amino acid in your body. In fact, it makes up 60 percent of the amino acids in your muscles.

Glutamine aids in protein absorption, enhances your immune system, and boosts your gut health.

4. Citrulline

Just like creatine, citrulline aids in the body’s production of ATP. In addition, it also helps build a buffer against lactic acid buildup and helps with absorption of malic acid, among many other benefits.

5. L-carnosine

L-carnosine helps promote healthy aging and cellular regeneration. It does this by reducing hydrogen ions in the blood, which balances out the pH levels in your body. This in turn can help delay fatigue when you’re working out.

6. BCAAs

BCAAs, or branded chain amino acids, are important components of protein in your body. There are nine in total, but three are essential when it comes to strengthening the muscles in your body.

These are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. It’s a good idea to look for BCAA supplements that have these particular types of amino acids.

7. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is a type of adaptogen, a plant that can help your body resist stress. It has been known to help lower stress levels and even have an effect on the levels of cortisol, or the stress hormone, in your body.

It’s also a vegan supplement, and it’s all natural. So there’s no need to worry about putting any weird chemicals inside your body.
