People have been eating seeds for thousands of years. However, as times changed, modern society slowly relegated the humble seed to being a snack food, or even food for birds.

But recently, some long-forgotten super seeds are slowly making a comeback. People are starting to find out more about their health benefits, and nutritionists are even branding them as a new superfood. These super seeds are full of nutrients and healthy fats that your body needs.

The great thing about seeds is that you can eat them as a snack, or incorporate them into your meals. Either way, you’ll be doing your body some good by eating these seeds.

7 super seeds that can give your health a boost

Here’s a list of some super seeds that aren’t just tasty but are also good for you. They’re also pretty accessible, and you can usually find them in any grocery or health food store.

1. Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds are healthy, and have a lot of fats that your body needs.

Sunflower seeds taste great in salads and can also be eaten raw or roasted. These seeds have a lot of vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acids, which your body needs. Mix some sunflower seeds in your meals to give your health a boost and add a nutty flavor to your snacks.

2. Sesame seeds

Commonly found in Asian cuisine, sesame seeds are a great source of omega-6 and can lower your cholesterol. They’re also rich in fiber and protein and are easy to incorporate into your daily meals.

3. Chia seeds

Chia seeds rank among the most nutritious of super seeds.

Chia seeds have surged in popularity of late as a new superfood. And it certainly lives up to its reputation!

This super seed contains fiber and protein and can help lower your blood sugar and cholesterol and improve your heart health.

The great thing is that you don’t even need to eat a lot of it to be healthy. Just a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds in the morning will work well as fuel for a busy day.

4. Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds have been a part of our diet since 9000 B.C., and for good reason! It’s chock full of omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. It can also help lower your blood pressure.

Flaxseeds are great for mixing into salads, pancakes, or anything you could think of. It has a delicious, nutty taste that you’ll definitely be craving more of.

5. Hemp seeds

Hemp seeds are a great source of protein, and vegetarians have been eating them as a substitute for meat. They’re better than other vegetable sources of protein since they have complete protein, which is sometimes missing from food like tofu and nuts. In fact, just two tablespoons of hemp seeds can give you 11 percent of your daily requirement for protein.

6. Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are cheap, and are also a good source of magnesium and zinc.

As their name implies, pumpkin seeds come from pumpkins, and they’re usually found around Halloween. However, if you have access to a store that sells pumpkin seeds, it might be a good idea to eat these super seeds more often.

That’s because they’re a good source of fiber, protein, magnesium, and zinc. They also taste absolutely amazing when roasted, and work well in salads and even pasta dishes!

7. Quinoa seeds

Last but not the least, quinoa seeds, which are among those delicious super seeds. Quinoa was prized by the ancient Inca Empire, and they even called it the “mother of all grains.”

And its reputation is well-deserved. Quinoa has protein, fiber, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, phosphate, copper, zinc, folate, iron, and potassium, which are all essential minerals that your body needs.

They’re also non-GMO, gluten-free, and almost always grown organically. This makes them great for people wanting to avoid processed foods or those who want to go on a natural food diet.
