We cannot deny that the 1980s were an iconic decade. From introducing funky fashion choices to incorporating loud neon colors, the ’80s created such a strong impact on fashion. While it has been more than 30 years since then, the decade’s influence still prevails and some pieces and trends are even getting a revival in our existing fashion styles.

As our way of paying homage to this beautiful era, we have listed down some of our favorite ’80s trends that have made a comeback in the past few years. Spoiler alert: It’s not at all as bad as you might think.

Bomber jackets

Bomber jackets were statement pieces that were a favorite of hip-hop lovers back in the ’80s. We know we’re not alone when we say that this has to be one of the most stylish items that people are excited to have again. Just put this jacket on over a simple shirt and wear some jeans and you’re good to go.

Tracksuits are great additions to your wardrobe if you're inspired by the '80s men's fashion trends.

Tracksuits

Athleisure is back and it looks like it will not be slowing down in the coming years. Easygoing tracksuits are in again, with a 2-piece ensemble that’s perfect when you don’t want to think about what to wear today. It’s also a great balance between comfortable and stylish, that’s why we’re definitely down to wear one of these.

Printed button downs

Cuban-inspired printed button downs are no longer just for your uncle — they are now a statement piece that you can wear on a random sunny day. Thanks to Prada, this shirt has been reinvented as an eye-popping statement top. The ’80s were all about flamboyance, and these prints and florals just encapsulate that perfectly.

Jeans

This never really went away, but the use of jeans has become more prominent in the past few years. Denim jackets have made a huge comeback, and loose acid-wash pants are now more accepted than before. Jeans have always been a classic and we think they will forever exist.

Fanny Packs

Once thought of as an abomination, fanny packs have now been reinvented as a stylish accessory. Thanks to luxury brands like Gucci, fanny packs can now be paired with your chic-looking outfit. We don’t really hate it because these things are functional and can hold almost anything that you need. You go, fanny pack!

Polo shirts

The halfway point between preppy and sporty, polo shirts just became a staple in fashion in the past couple of years. Just make them a little more retro by wearing bright colors for your outfit — bam, the ’80s.

White sneakers

Yes, white sneakers complete a staple look from the ’80s. Remember “Back to the Future?” Way before the 2000s, white sneakers were a trend, and we are more than happy to see that they’ve made a comeback and become huge.

T-shirts in suits

Mixing casual with formal, this trend has slowly crept back to the fashion scene in the past couple of years. Even celebrities are donning this ensemble on the red carpet and we’re not mad. It might not be the most fashionable, but this laid-back look is something we’re definitely digging, and we’re here for it.
